Phoenix Arizona Delivery, Museums and Backpacking trip - Jan 10, 2021
Photos from my trip to Arizona January 2021.
I had to drop off two customer projects in the Phoenix area, so I took a few days off while I was there to decompress and check out the winter desert.
After dropping off the frames I stopped at the Phoenix Museum of Art, followed by Martin Auto Museum and Penske's Racing Museum while staying in Phoenix for a few days.
Next up a took a trip out of town to visit a hobo hot spring out a few miles down a trail in a valley gully. There I met an interesting guy from Arizona who recommended a trip out to Quartsite to see the Bazaar going on and all the interesting stuff there was to offer.
Finally, I backpacked in the forest and mountains around Fort Graham near Safford. I climbed a ridge between a pair of peaks and camped for the night. I had a few thinks to think on so I wanted the clarity of mind that only solitude, fasting, and uncomfortable cold and bring to your mind.
I came down the mountain refreshed. So I fond a bath house feed with a natural hot spring to clean up in before making my way back to Texas the slow way though New Mexico and Texas back highways.
All throughout the trip I would hop on Freecampsites.net and just find places to park and knock out in the back of the suburban. The Burb made for the best sleep I've had while traveling in a long time. Drive till I got board, find someplace close by and then crash till I woke up and figure out what I wanted to do next. No planning, just driving and enjoying things in the moment. The right tools made that possible.
Colorado Bend Backpacking TRIP - May 29, 2018
A short trip for a trip at Colorado Bend State Park in Texas. Note to self, next time don't go during a heat wave. It might be more fun that way. But the TRIP was successful, and the hardship made it worthwhile in my opinion.
Mr and Mrs Royall's Wedding - Apr 05, 2018
While my friend and his wife had been married for some time they finally decided to have the party to celebrate their union and there impending first child together. Sorry I was sick as a dog but I did what I could on short notice. I hope my few photos her will be acceptable remembrance of their union and their special day.
Portland Trip - Mar 15, 2018
When a good friend asked me if I wanted his one owner 4WD Suburban with towing package the obvious answer of HELL YES came out a bit too quickly. I had to fly up to Portland, Oregon to snag it so I grabbed the cheapest fight possible and blasted up that way. A trip to Palatov Motorsports was on the list then thanks to Denis’s suggestions I stopped at Evergreen Flight Museum to check out the Spruce Goose and one of the SR-71 Black Birds. Next I shot down Highway 101 through California to see family and drive the roads. I stopped at Biokustomz for a chat on Philosophy and the nature of people in general then made my way back toward Texas with the new burb in hand.
Parrents Trip to Portland and Back - Oct 28, 2017
Not my photos, my mothers on my camera but I edited them and posted them up here for them. Mom and Dad's trip to Portland and back with plenty of stopps on the return trip to check out all the good places.
Great Basin National Park - August 11, 2016
My August trip was a bit of a two-fur as I had to head out to California to deliver a custom chassis to Megabots for their giant robot. I decided to take an odd ball route back so I could stop at Great Basin National Park and try my hand at a more extreme elevation than I had in a long time. Last time I was thing high up I had problems but this time I was going even higher but I we personally over 40 lbs lighter and my pack was also close to 20 lbs lighter so I was ready. The park was beautiful and well worth the out of the way trip, the photos explain that way better than I ever could an I still feel like they are a poor example of the beauty of the trail, but I tried.
Dinosaur Valley State Park Trip - June 27, 2016
I’m trying to do one backpacking trip a month now and after getting flooded out of a camping trip in April and then being too slammed with worth through May and almost through June to go I needed to make sure I didn’t miss completely. So I took a side trip when going for parts one day and ended up in Dinosaur Valley State Park on my way back from the DFW area. The park had been flooded badly and you can see it in my photos of the river crossing.
The park was awesome if short and easy but it was nice to be away and outside of the shop. I did finally get rained on as well, so I got to test my rain gear out. It failed miserably so it’s all getting replaced and I’m added a rain canopy for getting out of the rain when trying to setup camp in the rain. It’s hard to keep your gear dry if it’s raining into your open pack. So I’ve got a SilkPoly tarp ordered from Mountain Wilderness gear and I’m looking for new goodies at the moment for the rest of it.

Palo Duro Backpacking Trip - June 24, 2015
A quick backpacking trip to Palo Duro Canyon in June of 2015. The trip ended abruptly when the dog barred face and chest first into a few cacti. That ended the trip as I had to clean out the dog and take him and his owner home. Also they only had a small area dedicated to primitive camping and it was pretty awful so I wasn’t too upset leaving.

New Mexico Trip - Augest 08, 2014
Earthship and backpacking in New Mexico near Taos. Embarrassingly enough I was WAY to fat. That mixed with the altitude caused me to be basically useless on the trail. Fortunately my friends dog almost froze to death and ended up in the tent with us so we called it a day after only 1 1/2 days on the trail then contented ourselves to hit the museums in Albuquerque before spending a few days at the Earthship’s in Taos.
